Submission Process
Judging Task Force
All nominated companies will be evaluated upon the below criteria by the Business Awards Task Force, a group consisting of past winners, chamber members and community volunteers.
Nomination Criteria
All companies, or divisions of companies, and charity / not-for-profit organizations or local chapters of national and international charity / not-for-profit organizations are eligible for nomination, provided they meet the following criteria (and any specific criteria that may be noted in the Award Descriptions):
- The business must reside (or have a physical presence by doing a significant amount of business) in Burlington;
- The company demonstrates excellence in: Business Leadership, Business Practices, Community Relations, Community Contributions, Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Growth, Environmental Leadership, Employee Welfare, Technology & Innovation, Sales & Market Growth and Customer & Stakeholder Relations;
- The company is in good standing in its business reputation;
- The company is in good standing with regards to all financial dealings with the City of Burlington;
- If the business is a chamber member, they must be in a good financial standing with the chamber;
- The business must not have won a Burlington Chamber Award (in any nominating category) in the last 5 years;
- A ‘For profit' business must have been in operation more than 36 months (as of December 31st of the eligible year) under its present ownership structure within Burlington;
- A ‘Charity / Not For Profit' must have been in operation for more than 60 months (as of December 31st of the eligible year) and must be a registered charity or not-for-profit organization that makes a substantial contribution to the social well-being and significant impact in the community;
- A business being considered for the ‘Heritage Award' must have been in operation more than 40
years (as of December 31 of the eligible year) within Burlington
Self nomination is permissible.
FINAL NOTES
- The Burlington Chamber reserves the right to disqualify incomplete submissions without notice
- Acceptance of submissions received is at the discretion of the Burlington Chamber
- The Burlington Chamber reserves the right to realign categories due to volume of entries or eligibility of nominee. If this process should take place, entrants will be notified
- All entrants agree to be bound by these rules
